The program is intended for anyone who wishes to obtain the Agency Executive Officer (“certified AEO”) qualification, which is available to brokers who already practice real estate and hold a valid licence issued by the OACIQ, preferably in both residential and commercial brokerage. The hybrid program distinguishes itself by providing the Agency Executive Officer basic training in English.
The Agency Executive Officer certificate program is a continuation of the Residential Real Estate Brokerage and Commercial Real Estate Brokerage basic training programs. Since 2012, new brokers must follow a mandatory basic training in an institution recognized by the Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ). The Agency Executive Officer certificate program will allow the licensee to act as an agency executive officer and manage a real estate brokerage agency.

|Real Estate Refresher -00||This required course will provide the participants with an overview of the Quebec Real Estate market, the ethics and professional activities for brokers in both RESIDENTIAL and COMMERCIAL real estate. It will include an overview of the laws and regulations, the OACIQ forms including contract clauses and signatures, appraisal using the most common approaches (direct comparison and income approach), mortgage calculations, the importance of certificates of location and inspections. In addition, it will go over the financial fundamentals as it applies to enterprises in commercial real estate transactions, including an overview of the ratios and formulas.||30|
|Legal Obligations of the AEO – 01||In this course, students will learn the principle legal rules applicable to Agency Executive Officers and the operation and management of an agency. More specifically, students will acquire an understanding of the obligations and responsibilities provided for in the Real Estate Brokerage Act, its regulations and other relevant legislation which apply to their function as an Agency Executive Officer. Additionally, this course will allow students to develop the necessary reflexes to navigate the various legal sources that will be applicable to their practices.||45|
|Accounting of a Real Estate Agency - 02||In this course, students will learn the main accounting principles and financial equations that apply to agency accounting. More generally, students will acquire an understanding of the accounting “lifecycle”, from basic accounting principles to financial statements, as well as how financial and tax information is processed and recorded within an agency. Students will be able to interpret financial statements, identify the information required and establish internal procedures and check points for compliance. In addition, the students will learn the principles of collaboration with various stakeholders.||45|
|Agency Management (Human Resources and Operations)- 03||This course will be divided into two units: operations management and human resource management. In the Operations management unit, the students will learn to create manuals covering internal policies and procedures, agency compliance plans to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations of the OACIQ and government. It will cover record keeping procedures and transaction record verifications, document conservation and archiving, access to records and files, and document falsification prevention. Additionally, the students will create agency internal advertising policies and compliance with the OACIQ’s advertising guidelines regarding promotional pamphlet, business card, elevator pitch and social media for marketing. In the Human Resources management unit, students will learn to develop a manual that will include the recruitment (job descriptions, interviewing) and integration process for administrative staff and brokers. It will cover the rules and norms relating to remuneration, performance reviews, professional development, health and safety, vacations and as well as termination. Students will learn what is involved in supervising the professional activities of the brokers and implementing customized training plans to ensure continuing education. Students will gain an understanding of how to delegate, coordinate and prioritise workloads for themselves as well as for their teams and subordinates, all the while learning how to operate within time and budgetary constraints, using internal electronic software where possible.||75|
|Teachings from the AEO - 04||In this course, students will become acquainted with the day-to-day tasks of an Agency Executive Officer. Students will learn about collaboration with brokers, clients, partners and the OACIQ, as well as the critical role of ensuring broker and staff compliance. This course will also emphasize the role of an Agency Executive Officer as a mentor and coach in supporting their brokers and staff.||75|
|Integration Project – 05||This course allows the student to integrate and apply the competencies acquired in order to perform his/her role as agency executive officer in various situational scenarios. More specifically, students will assume the role of an AEO completing practical tasks and role-playing scenarios. Focus will be placed on the key areas of supervision, mentorship, collaboration and negotiation. The student will be able to evaluate his/her capabilities in the most realistic and authentic condition possible.||60|
In order to be eligible for this program, the following two admissions conditions apply:
- Currently hold an active OACIQ-issued Real Estate Brokerage licence in good standing;
- Have been practicing for at least 2 years;
IMPORTANT NOTE: This program is designed as a whole, in order to fully respect the competency-based approach. In this case, this program cannot be submitted to applications for recognition of acquired competency (RAC) and cannot be followed in parts.

- Online classes on Teams with some asynchronous material may be applicable.
- Integration project will require the students to come in person and complete in person exams. Attendance to all classes is mandatory to successfully complete this program.
- Each course has a passing grade of 60% with its own variety of exams, assignments, tests and quizzes. A student must pass all listed courses to obtain the Certificate diploma.
- Dates may be modified with advance notification.
- If ever, we cannot provide the classes in person, you would be notified in time and the class would be moved to online.

This program is recognized by the Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ). It is designed based on OACIQ’s competencies and developed in terms of its objectives and standards. It is intended for a broker who wishes to obtain the Agency Executive Officer (“certified AEO”) qualification.
The successful completion of this program, will equip the student with the competencies expected in the filed and qualify them to apply for the OACIQ’s Agency Executive Officer skilled-based exam required to practice the profession. It is available to brokers who already practice real estate and hold a valid licence issued by the OACIQ. The program distinguishes itself by providing the Agency Executive Officer training in English and in hybrid mode.
Important information on obtaining an agency executive officer’s licence
To be eligible for the agency executive officer’s licence, you must:
- Complete and succeed our agency executive officer program
- Pass the ” Agency Executive” certification exam, lasting three and a half hours (3 hours 30 minutes) and issued by the OACIQ available in English or French
